You're so right!! Some of the greatest experiences I've had are when I've stepped outside of my comfort zone. I can think of a particular situation when I did that and it lead to a great friendship. We don't know what's waiting out there if we don't push ourselves to be a little "uncomfortable" at times.

As I read this I found myself thinking this is probably how many people think going to church is: a bunch of fans for something they know nothing about. My deepest hope is that, for those who are willing to venture in, they have a similarly amazing experience where they are embraced and find encouragement, hope, and camaraderie. However, I suspect many won’t even venture in because, as with your initial reaction, it seems like something only for people who are already “fans.”

Mark, how wonderful! We sometimes get "stuck" in our own genre of people. Travelling IS a wonderful way to get "outside the box", and travelling does not have to be far! It can be within your own community! Hope is loving and experiencing other people and finding out and LISTENING to their stories and experiences and ASKING about them. It is enlightening and can open us up to other ideas and genres and empathize, sympathize, laugh with, learn, even make disciplels. Thank you for this post. It pushes one to GET OUT AND SEE WHAT IS OUT THERE!
