I’m a firm believer in the power of positive thinking. It’s so easy to be negative. Call me a weirdo, but being positive takes great courage and intentionality. And I’d love to have your company!
What are the stories you tell yourself?
I don’t mean stories like Jack and the Beanstalk or even superhero stories where the person in trouble is rescued at the last minute by the caped one swooping in for the save.
I’m talking about the stories you tell yourself about yourself… about who you are… how you feel… how you see what’s happened to you… or even what might happen to you in the future…
These are the stories that define us, that help us to see where we fit into the world, and whether or not we see that world as a benevolent place. As a person of faith, it is also related to how you view God and the role you believe God plays in your life and the world.
These stories are the only thing we have control over in our lives. And learning to tell myself better stories is the only way I’ve learned to survive the challenges of life.
Other people will try to tell your story for you. And many times we allow them. I’d like to invite you to start telling better stories about yourself.
To be honest, sometimes I have to tell myself stories that I don’t necessarily believe at the time, but they are things I want to believe. Isn’t that what beliefs are anyway? I need constant reminding.
I’ll let you behind the curtain a little bit more… During the challenging days I’ve been going through lately I want to remind myself… over and over… what I believe. And it looks a bit like this.
“My life is awesome. I’m blessed. I’m living in abundance. Really good things are on the way.”
When I get threatened by the negative voices in my head, I just start saying these words aloud. Over and over. Like a weirdo.
And it helps. Because I want to be the person who believes and lives out those positive things, rather than letting my day be hijacked by the negative crap.
I hope it helps you, too. ❤️
Seven Reminders for How to Live Well in 2024
This is an awesome article of seven simple things to remember for how to live well. Thanks to my high school friend, Margo, for turning me onto this great site and newsletter! I absolutely love the first three points: 1) Connect with people who support you, 2) Engage in real time with whatever sustains you, and 3) Exercise.
People do some really awesome things.
Did you see this dance group from India on America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League? Wowza… your mind will be blown. And I hope you’re reminded that we are all capable of doing some pretty remarkable things.
Wanna Help Me Out?
There’s a super easy way for you help me out — and I’d be thrilled if you would take just a second to check out the music I’ve been releasing lately — just search for Marcus Royce on Spotify, Apple, Amazon, YouTube, or wherever you listen to music. Anytime you listen, comment, like, or share, is super encouraging to me, and helps the chances of more people being able to hear it. Thank you!
Spot on with this Marcus…thank you, courageous friend. This cowardly lion needed the encouragement and passed it forward to 2 clients needing it even more today. Appreciate you and the contagious hope you are spreading💜
